ABOUT US
The Braque Francais Breeder Alliance is not a breed club; it is an alliance of breeders.
The Braque Francais Breeder Alliance strives to achieve and maintain the highest standards for its breeders and its breeding stock. We require a certain level of involvement in proving our breeding stock, and a minimum standard in both performance and health for any prospective dog being entered into a breeding program. The Braque Francais is a hunting dog; its breeders should be hunters and hunt their dogs regularly.
We all believe our Braques are amazing, but we need objective means to demonstrate ability and suitability for breeding. While some breed clubs may use their own breed registry and testing system, Braque Francais Breeder Alliance breeders use the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) testing system. The NAVHDA testing system successfully removes any breeder bias by using an independent three judge system to evaluate and score tested dogs. Dogs are tested against a standard, not other dogs. While it’s not a perfect system (dogs can have off days, as can handlers), it’s the best one we’ve found. And it’s transparent; anyone can verify the test results of any dog.
